Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil Vanilla Glow is a fast-absorbing dry body oil for skin that feels tight right after a shower, or looks dry, rough, ashy or crepey. Applied to slightly damp skin it seals in the water already there, so a few drops go further than they would on dry skin. It absorbs without a greasy film - once absorbed, it is safe to dress and safe for your sheets.
The scent is warm vanilla, coconut and almond - a gourmand vanilla body oil, closer to a bakery than to anything fresh or citrus. Noticeable at first, then it settles into a skin scent and stays there. Subtle, never overpowering. If you prefer green or citrus notes, Fresh Bergamot is the one to choose instead; if you want warm and sweet but quieter, closer to warm sugar than to dessert, Cashmere Amber is saffron, white jasmine and amberwood.

The 4·7·8 Formula. The blend is named after the 4-7-8 breathing technique, and it is 4 adaptogens, 7 nourishing oils and 8 smoothing actives, developed exclusively for Crystal Body Oil. The 4 adaptogens are ashwagandha, reishi mushroom, rhodiola and holy basil. The 7 nourishing oils are jojoba, rosehip, grapeseed, sea buckthorn, marula, argan and squalane. The 8 smoothing actives are retinol, kojic acid, niacinamide, a Vitamin C derivative, Vitamin E, ceramide NP, panthenol and a B-vitamin complex. Vitamin A works on body skin the same way it works on the face, but many products sold as a retinol body oil list no vitamin A on their ingredients at all - check the INCI before you buy. Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil lists retinol itself, alongside niacinamide, ceramide NP, panthenol and kojic acid. Start two or three nights a week, apply at night, and use sunscreen on exposed skin during the day.
Apply body oil to slightly damp skin, within about three minutes of getting out of the shower. Damp skin still holds surface water and the oil traps it; on fully dry skin the same oil sits on top and feels greasy. Pat with a towel until skin is damp, not wet, then massage a small amount into each area. No rinsing, and no waiting before you get dressed.
A dry oil absorbs instead of sitting on the surface, so it should not transfer once absorbed. Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil has been tested for staining and transfer: once it is absorbed, it is safe to dress and safe for your sheets. Apply a small amount to damp skin - a few drops go further there than on dry skin. If skin still feels slick, that is usually too much product, not the wrong one.
No - skip vitamin A body products if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding, and check with your doctor first. Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil contains retinol, so we do not recommend it during pregnancy or nursing. This is the standard precaution for all topical retinoids, not a finding about this product. A vitamin A-free body oil is the safer choice in that period.

Ashy legs are dead surface cells sitting on dehydrated skin, most visible on shins and knees and inside dark leggings. Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil is a lightweight jojoba-and-squalane dry oil made for that step, in a warm vanilla, coconut and almond scent.
Oil first, then wait 30 to 60 seconds, then cream - if you use both at all. Most people do not need both: a dry oil on damp skin is a complete step on its own. If your skin is very dry and you want a cream as well, let the oil absorb first so it reaches skin instead of sitting on another layer. Saltysleep Crystal Body Oil absorbs in about 30 to 60 seconds on damp skin.
Night is better for this one, because it contains retinol, a form of vitamin A. If you use it in the morning, apply sunscreen to any skin that will be exposed. Vitamin A can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, which is why it belongs in an evening routine.
Vanilla Glow is a warm gourmand scent - vanilla, coconut and almond, closer to a bakery than to anything fresh or citrus. If you prefer green or citrus notes, Fresh Bergamot is the one to choose instead. Noticeable at first, then it settles into a skin scent and stays there. Subtle, never overpowering. You can wear perfume over it as a base layer.
No artificial colorants are added. The color comes from naturally derived ingredients, so it may soften over time.
